I’ve been excited to blog this gorgeous summer wedding for some time now. Margaret and Colin are such a lovely couple and so deeply in love. The story of how they met and became engaged sounds like something out of a best-selling romance novel, with Colin’s surprise proposal by flying Margaret to Paris! Their wedding at Highlands Country Club in Garrison was elegant, beautiful, intimate and absolutely lovely from start to finish. It was an honor when the The Westchester Wedding Planner decided to feature Margaret & Colin’s wedding in their Fall/Winter 2015 issue!
We started the getting ready photos at Margaret’s childhood home, not far from the Highlands Country Club. This beautiful antique ring box was the perfect display for Margaret’s ring. And the subtle thistle design on the invitations was carried through the wedding in the groom’s boutonniere as well as the reception flowers.
I love these photos of Margaret preparing for her wedding. She is an elegant and graceful bride! Margaret with her beautiful bridesmaids, who wore delicate blush-peach bridesmaid dresses in a variety of styles. Their bouquets were pink/peach mini roses and baby’s breath. Margaret and her three lovely sisters are the blue-eyed beauties in the center.
Margaret’s parents home was a lovely backdrop for the photos:
The handsome groom, Colin, got ready for the wedding with his friends in nearby Cold Spring.
Colin and his groomsmen were all decked out in custom suits from Colin’s company, Alton Lane. Colin’s unique boutonniere included thistle and succulents.
The ceremony took place at the intimate Saint Philip’s Church in the Highlands, located in Garrison. The historic stone chapel was just perfect.
I loved these moments between Margaret and her dad before the ceremony. Thanks to my good friend Leslie Barbaro who came along with me to photograph this beautiful wedding, and captured this lovely moment among others.
The way Margaret and Colin gaze at each other will make anyone’s heart flutter!
This is one of my favorite photos from the wedding – I love how the wind is catching Margaret’s cathedral-length veil!
I love when couples opt for the beautiful wedding tradition of tossing rice/confetti/birdseed as the bride and groom depart the church!
We next headed from the intimate stone church to Highlands Country Club, just down the hill, and enjoyed the scenic grounds of the property. I adore photographing weddings at Highlands Country Club, truly one of my favorite wedding venues in all of Hudson Valley. There are so many beautiful spots for photographing the bridal party, wedding couple, and family on the grounds of Highlands Country Club. This weathered barn (and where the sunlight hits it) is always a favorite.
This photo was used on the cover of their wedding album. I have a sample version of their gorgeous wedding album in my office if you would like to see it in person!
The cocktail hour was held outside as the sun began to set over the Hudson Valley.
The beautiful floral decorations inside were put together by a family friend of the bride, Barbara Scucciamara. The wedding was coordinated by Deb Dichter and her team at Red Letter Day Event Planning.
The subtle thistle theme can be seen in the floral arrangements below. I love the use of thistle, succulents and hydrangea together, along with wild flowers. What unique and beautiful combination of flowers for a wedding reception!
Margaret and Colin’s unique “naked cake”, made by the Pastry Garden, was featured in the most recent issue of Westchester/Hudson Valley Weddings magazine. Their cake was delicately decorated with pink roses, thistle and baby’s breath.
Votive candles hung from the walls, creating a warm and inviting environment for this memory table.
First dance with the bridal party cheering them on.
And I love these photos of Margaret dancing with her dad, and Colin dancing with his mom.
The toasts by Margaret’s sister and Colin’s best man and business partner were moving and sweet.
And the cake cutting was so much fun!
Margaret and Colin finished off their wonderful wedding with this fantastic sparkler exit. Congratulations to you, and I wish you many many happy years together! Thank you so much for choosing Kelly Vasami Photography for your beautiful Hudson Valley wedding!
